Bio:

Jamie Kalvestran is an accomplished artist, product designer, and quilt maker who advocates for finding your own voice through her “Quilt Like an Artist” philosophy. A graduate of the Minneapolis College of Art and Design with a degree in Product Design, she began her quilting journey in 1981 and launched her own pattern line, Scrap-bags, in 2004.

Her professional background is diverse, including:

Design & Innovation: She holds three design patents and has developed products for industries ranging from equestrian accessories and sporting goods to toys and home fashions.

Textiles: She is a published illustrator and textile designer whose collections (such as “Origins”) have been licensed for major manufacturers like Andover, P&B Textiles and Quilting Treasures.

Art Quilting: Jamie specializes in “Figurative Improv Quilts” which you can view on her website tab “Full Circle Art Quilts.” She uses techniques like folded foundation paper piecing and improvisational methods to create her work.

She lives and works in a converted 1900s-era hardware store in southwest Minnesota. Her current work focuses on helping others overcome perfectionism by embracing experimental, intuitive quilting methods.
